. . . on Barack Obama

Today I am trying to find out more about Barack Obama. I want to know what people have heard about him, what they know, and what they think. I am starting o think strongly about actively supporting him, but I never like to go into these things blind. Of course there is plenty of research I could do myself, including reading either of his two books, but there is something about hearing what others have to say that has always been important to me.

I want to say a few things about Barack myself. The first thing is that you have to compare him to Hillary Clinton. Barack certainly seems to come up short of her in terms of exposure, and time spent in the political realm. I cannot argue with that, but I do wonder this: Is someone with a high Democratic (Clintonian) profile more or less likely to win a presidential election? Each of these two candidates have something "different" going for them. One is a woman and one is black. Both of these factors have at least some potential to cause cross-over votes.

Enough about the comparison though. I am leaning towards supporting Barack because of his charisma. There is no doubt that he is a great speaker. He seems to be very intelligent, and not because he tries to act intelligent (like Gore) but because he simply formulates thoughts in intelligent ways. I have not read either of Barack's books at this time, but I have watched a number of his speeches. He does in fact have the audacity to hope for change. I just can't help thinking that he has the charisma, and spunk that the Democratic Party has been lacking.
